Sea Otter Classic Adam Craig of Team Giant and Walker Ferguson of Team Scott/Spinner won the Sea Otter Classic pro short track events in California USA, riding 2007 prototype XTR. Adam Craig rode the new XTR Dual-Control Levers (DCL) and low-normal derailleur while Walker Ferguson rode the all new XTR RapidFire Plus shift levers and high-normal rear derailleur.
With the pro men short track split into two fields, Shimano sponsored riders Adam Craig and Walker Ferguson won both the Men’s “A” and “B” heats. They were riding on prototype Dual-Control levers, RapidFire Plus shift levers, rear derailleurs, pedals & wheels.
World Cup Curacao The weekend before, the 2006 World Cup cross-country season – presented by Shimano XTR – opened on the island of Curacao. Bart Brentjens (Team Ralf Denk-Giant) beat world champion Julien Absalon after a challenging race. Brentjens was riding prototype XTR wheels and pedals that were supplied to him just the night before. Bart had so much faith in Shimano quality that he never doubted their performance abilities at this (World Cup) level, and so decided to use them and he won!
The new Shimano XTR will be available in the market from October 2006.
