28 augustus heeft in het plaatsje Taxco in Mexico de "Red Bull Down Taxco" plaats gevonden. Deze downhill mountainbike wedstrijd ging over een afstand van 1800 meter waarbij 198 meter werd gedaald door stedelijk gebied. Voor de gelegenheid was onder andere de Red Bull rijder Kyle Strait (uit de Verenigde Staten) uitgenodigd. Hij maakte dankbaar van deze uitnodiging gebruik en schreef gelijk de wedstrijd op zijn naam.
Event: Red Bull Down Taxco Date: August, 28, 2004 Place: Taxco, Guerrero Hour: 11:00am – 14:30pm Sport: Mountain Biking Modality: Down Hill Impressive was the outcome of this close competition, where the best National Down Hill Competitors and a few famous faces from abroad were present. José Luis Pérez “el pájaro” impressed us with his outstanding participation, even though the performance of the Costa Ricans Carlos Castillo and Sebastián Alexander Chávez, and that of our countrymen Manuel Riestra and Guillermo de Uslar, was not left behind. However, not even the extraordinary performance of these first class athletes was able to stop the Californian Kyle Strait -Kayodic- who aside from giving us the pleasure of witnessing a marvelous exhibition of this complicated modality in mountain biking, won the first place. The route contained several highlights such as the tricky first drop from which only the most reckless ventured to jumped, and the part of the route that took the bikers to Don Hermenegildo;s house, who although had to modify part of his home was glad to be able to contribute in our first event. The finishing touch was the appearance of the liquits who gave a humorous concert that put everyone in a good mood and helped everybody relax after a hard day of competition.
