Anneke heeft haar eerste downhill wedstrijd van het seizoen alweer achter de rug. Ze was in Portugal voor de eerste Maxxis cup van het jaar. Gouveia om precies te zijn. Na een lange winterperiode van trainen bracht de seizoensstart haar een podium. Verder heeft ze deze winter een aantal sponsor-contracten verlengd en twee nieuwe sponsors gevonden. A new season has started and I am proud to be riding for the SPECIALIZED team for at least another 2 years.My Dutch sponsor WILLEMS GROEP will also continue with me the coming season. I am excited to say that I have 2 new sponsors this season. CRANKBROTHERS will provide me with some cool pedals and VANS SHOES will sponsor me with their casual shoes this season. Furthermore I am also happy to say that everybody who helped me the last seasons are still with me. Lots off thanks go out to: SRAM, ROCKSHOX, AVID, TRUVATIV, OAKLEY, FOX SHOCKS, MAVIC, X-BIKING AND AEROFITT.
My first race of the season was the Maxxis cup in Gouveia, Portugal.After a good winter of training, I am looking forward to a new season. The downhill course in Gouveia was good, it is a good course to get into the swing of things again. My practice runs on Friday and Saturday went quite well.
Sunday on race day it was raining on and of. We had to do 2 runs and the best time of the 2 runs would count. My first run went well, I was able to ride my lines and keep my speed.I ended up in a 3rd place behind Tracy Moseley and Emmeline Ragot. I was satisfied with that position. Around noon it started to rain down hard and the second run therefore was a bit slower by the most of us. With a 3rd place in my first DH race of this season I am happy, and looking forward to a new and exciting season.
