Bike Marathon Riva (Italië)& Sunshine Cup Nales (Zuid Tirol)

The Siemens mobile Cannondale team took victories in all races at Riva del Garda this weekend. Even a double victory in the Bike Marathon as Christoph and Roel crossed the line together. It was an unlucky race for Hannes who crashed whilst in 3rd place, requiring stitches in his leg and arm.

Roel: “I started the climb together with Susi to set the pace. In the steepest part of the climb Susi pulled away. I rode in a group with Hannes & 2 Ralph Denk riders. At the top I pulled away & in the downhill I was able to really make up time & caught Susi at the bottom. We decided as team mates it was crazy to attack each other and so rode together to the finish. We actually walked over the line carrying our bikes in the air!”

Christoph: “This race is a is basically a one hour climb followed by a fast descent – a once up once down I call it! The race started pretty early in the morning so I took it light with just a liquid energy breakfast. In the steepest part on the climb I managed to pull away from Roel and then at the bottom of the descent he caught me again. It was a nice team feeling to ride together to the finish and made for a good race overall.”
