Anneke Beerten is er zaterdagavond niet in geslaagd de wereldbekerwedstrijd 4-cross in de Belgische plaats Houffalize op haar naam te brengen. De wereldkampioene in deze spectaculaire discipline van de wielersport bereikte weliswaar de finale maar ging daarin onderuit. Ook de Française Emmeline Ragot haalde de finish niet. Jana Horakova uit Slowakije won vóór de Oostenrijkse Anita Molcik.
Bij de mannen was de de favoriete Australiër Jared Graves de beste in de Ardennen. Joost Wichman won de kleine finale om de vijfde plaats.

For the second year in a row, Houffalize organized a World Cup Cross Country and 4-cross. The XC already had its first World Cup last week in England, for the 4-cross this was the first World Cup of the season.
First World Cup of the season is always exciting, new year, new riders and you wonder how fit and strong you're competition is.
Like last year I get the full team support of team Suspension Center. For this season we got a brand new set up and it is great to have such good support.
The track was the same as last year, not difficult but very challenging if you have to race it. This year the track was super dusty, slippery and loose because of the dry weather they had last week. I was feeling good and I managed to qualified 2nd just with 0.04 of a second behind Anita Molcik.
My previous rounds went good and smooth and I managed to go to the final... I was really pumped up, and I knew this was the moment that I have been training for all winter. My start wasn't the best and right away I got locked in by Anita and Jana who were both lined up next to me.... But they went wide on the first turn I saw an open line on the inside and just went for it, going for first place, but while entering the turn I hit a really soft spot and before I knew it I was face down eating dust. I was so bummed, because I thought I had it. Even though I did not get the result I was hoping for, I had a great weekend of riding and the crowd was just amazing!
Next on my program is a Women ride camp with Oakley in beautiful Lake Garda, Italy this upcoming weekend. The 2nd World Cup of the season will be in two weeks in Maribor, Slovenia.
