Podium at first World Cup in Vigo, Spain

Afbeelding verwijderd. The first world cup of the season started in Vigo, Spain. It's a great place to go to. The crowd and courses are really good. Over the weekend more then 15000 Spectators came out to watch us. There also was live TV coverage. My main focus is on the 4-cross, but I also give downhill a shot again this year.

The 4-cross track was the same as last year. During practice I was feeling good on the course and out of the gate. After a not so perfect qualifying run I new I had to stay "on it" during the race. My quarter-final and semi-final went perfect, I won and went on to the finals.
Due to some gate issues I was late out of the gate and had to come from behind, and sprinted for second. It was so close that a photo finish was needed, and that showed that I was 3rd.
The Downhill course was rough and steep. I was trying hard during practice to find the smooth lines and control my bike. I qualified 16 and new I could go a bit faster in the final. Just one hour before the start it started to rain…. It made the rock sections a bit sketchier. The crowed was going crazy on some parts of the course, it was really encouraging hearing them scream. I ended up in 14th spot, not a bad start but I would like to get in the top 10 in the next races.
Greetings,Anneke Beerten
