Anneke Beerten: Angel Fire, New Mexico USA

Afbeelding verwijderd. From racing in Brazil at sea level we went up to 2500 meters this weekend in Angel Fire. Having my 23rd birthday this week I was looking forward to race here. The Downhill course was fast, super fast, with a couple of technical sections. As practice progressed, I was starting to feel better and better on my Downhill bike.

My qualifying run was not very smooth…I bounced off the track into some trees. Surprisingly, I still qualified in 10th place. My final run went smoothly, I pinned it all the way down, 13seconds faster than my qualifying run! I knew it was a good time and I ended up in 7th place which I am very happy with.
The 4-cross track was the hardest I have race this season. It was very technical, with some massive jumps. My semi final went really well. I was first out of the gate and managed to stay in first place to the line. The final was set to be a tough race against Kintner, Miller and Llanes. Out of the gate I got closed in around the first corner. I was in third place out of the corner and couldn't find away to move up, finishing third. I retain the World Cup series lead with two races to go.
After 8 weeks of straight racing I will be having next weekend off, spending some time at Specialized Headquarters in Morgan Hill.
Special Thanks to the Specialized staff and team mates. I am happy to be a part of the such a great Team. Thanks to the Sram crew for the awesome birthday cake!!
