World cup number 5 was held at the Olympic park in Calgary. The downhill course was a short one this weekend. The 4X course was long and fast with a lot of bmx like jumps in it.
DOWNHILL
During practice I felt pretty good and I was having fun on this short course, however when I woke up Sunday morning it was raining really hard and after my pre-race practice runs that morning, it turned out I wasn't having fun anymore.
It was almost a real struggle to get down the course since it was so flat, and the mud being so deep, it was really hard to keep some speed going.
My legs felt like they were burning already 30 seconds into the race, because I started sprinting straight out of the gate for a very flat first section.
I went trough the woods pretty smooth, but I messed up one really muddy turn where I must lost some seconds, I was still able to sprint hard to the line and eventually end up in 10th place.
4XI qualified 6th, the times were really close so it could be good racing. I got 2nd in the quarter final but totally messed up my start in the semi final so I had to settle for the B final together with Miller, Streb and Quinn.
I had a pretty good start but was on the outside in the first turn and therefore I got pushed out even more and came out in 4th place. I was able to pass Vanessa in the second turn and I passed Marla on the jumps on the 3rd straight, witch gave me a 6th place finish for the weekend.
Monday morning I packed up my stuff and headed back for home, where I will pick up my training programme again and get ready for the European championships at the end of July.
