Kona Clump Congeals in 2004

Geplaatst op 23 dec 2003.
The Kona Clump - Kona's semi-organized team of traveling beer cans and the industry's most progressive-thinking group of out-of-bounds riders - is back and intact for 2004. Robbie "Air" Bourdon, John Cowan, Joe Schwartz, Dave Watson and Grant Allen will continue to take the sport of mountain biking to new heights as they travel the world competing, filming, coaching and exploring in 2004.

The 2002/2003 season was a big year for the Clump with Bourdon dropping the unbelievable line at Red Bull, Watson gapping Le Tour, Cowan expanding his bag of DJ tricks to include back flip cross-ups and such, JSchwartz staying healthy to put down some sweet lines, and Grant opening many people's eyes to the new definition of vertical relief.  The boys are currently resting and healing in preparation for the demanding 2004 schedule. In February, the Clump will be joining the Freeride Entertainment crew for an exploratory riding trip in New Zealand to film segments for New World Disorder 5. In April, Bourdon is putting in some time with Oakley in Australia, John Cowan will be doing demos at Sea Otter and may be off to Japan for an unnamed R&D mission, then to the Garda Festival in Germany for a Kona Europe appearance.  Early summer will see the crew appearing at many of Kona's 2005 product launches. As well, JSchwartz will be helping Andrew Shandro out as an instructor in Kamloops, Cowan will be working on something entitled Hell Barge, and Bourdon travels with Oakley again. Sweet! Then everyone hits the Whistler MTB festival help July 19-25.  In between dates, the Clump will continue to film and shoot pics with John Gibson, the Kona Lens Man.  This year, the Clump team will be riding on Stinky Seven and Seven bikes (with Marzocchi 888 forks). The crew will also be proto-testing the new Stinky Supreme by summertime. Watson will be one of the first on the new Stab Supreme, and Cowan will be on his new signature hardtail as well as a prototype dual suspension DJ machine. The Kona Clump is a major contributor to Kona's R&D department, providing the kind of performance and product feedback not available from too many other riders in the world. Their insight and experience help make Kona Bicycles, well, special, durable. The Kona Clump is supported by Marzocchi, Race Face, Fox, Hayes, Shimano, Tioga and Mavic. For your fix, visit www.konaworld.com
