[Engels pers bericht Mont St. Anne] BE ONE TEAM SUCCESSFUL IN 2001 WORLD CUP SEASON Pascal 3rd, Stropparo 4th in final UCI World Cup ranking

Geplaatst op 27 aug 2001.
Mont St. Anne (CAN) - The final round of the UCI World Cup was an exciting round, specially in the men´s Downhill, where 3 riders could grap the overall World Cup title. By finishing 4th, Mickael Pascal ended 3rd overall behind winner Greg Minnaar (Global) and Nicolas Vouilloz (Vouilloz Racing Team). A 5th place in the woman´s Cross Country for Annabella Stropparo gave her the points needed to enter the top 5, finishing 4th overall.

The World Cup Final Downhill showed again that the top 3 ranked riders, Minnaar, Vouilloz and Pascal are the most consistent riders this season. By finishing 2nd, 3rd and 4th, the overall ranking shows Minnaar as winner, Vouilloz in 2nd, Pascal in 3rd. Oscar Saiz finished 11th in Saterday´s race, Anneke Beerten 21st. Bas de Bever is still recovering of his injury but will be back for the World´s in Vail, Colorado. In the overall Team ranking Downhill, Be One Team got 3rd.

After Kaprun, Annabella Stropparo was in 6th place overall. The gap between number 3 and 6 was very small however, so the final race promised to be exciting. With a 5th place, Stropparo caught Dunlap (GT) and Spitz (Merida) in the overall ranking. Corine Dorland missed the World Cup final to prepare for the World´s.

Thijs Al got another victory last weekend in a national race. He won impressive with a 3 minutes lead. From 8 to 15 September, the World Championships will take place in Vail, Colorado. All the Be One Team riders will compete for the medals.
