BB vraag: Waarom linker cup altijd gaar en rechts niet?

Ik heb dit ergens gelezen ( Sheldon Brown)

left cranks transmit torque and bending simultaneously while right cranks transmit these forces separately. The left crank transmits driving torque through the spindle to the right crank and chainwheel while the right crank drives the chainwheel directly. Besides that, the right crank transmits torque to the spindle only when standing on both pedals. Doing this with the right foot forward (goofy footed) is the only time the spindle transmits reverse torque.

Dit verhaal lijkt mij het meest plausibel, want juist omdat de rechterkant ingesloten zit kan er ook meer troep tussen blijven zitten en daarmee ook meer vocht blijven hangen....

Ik moet wel jaarlijks de BB lagers vervangen. Ik schat ca. 2.500km in hoofdzakelijk na jaar en winter. Ja, dus ook in slechte omstandigheden.
De lagers in mijn racefiets ( press-fit) draaien daarin tegen al ca. 25.000km zonder problemen.

Zelfde ervaring hier. BB lagers op de mtb is om van te huilen (al bijna elk merk geprobeerd, icm Sram gxp). Op de koersfiets (C-bear) is dit echt monteren en vergeten. Zit aan 20.000 km ofzo, paar maanden geleden eens opengelegd voor service maar liep nog zo vlot dat ik er niets aan gedaan heb.

Op de mtb heb ik meer last van de rechtercups. Maar dit komt door het gxp model denk ik. Bovendien gebruik ik enkel ontvetter aan de driveside, en als je daarmee je kettingblad poetst, dan zal er toch ook altijd een beetje naar je bracket doorsijpelen.

Zelf heb ik een bottombracket om dezelfde reden standaard op voorraad liggen.

Ze zijn ook niet waanzinning duur, althans van Shimano niet....

Ik heb ze niet op voorraad maar dat is niet eens zo'n slecht idee, zeker niet in deze tijd.
